Light Up The Room

Light therapy treatment involves exposing skin to low levels of light energy. Light therapy at Sea of Beauty Med Spa features 3 different LED wavelengths that stimulate the skin’s natural healing processes. With red, green, and blue light therapy, the unique wavelengths of each color target specific chromophores within the skin. By using gentle spectral light — not heat — our light therapy machine stimulates various cellular healing processes and provides therapeutic results.

Our light therapy procedures work for all skin types and skin tones. They’re quick and affordable, with no downtime and no discomfort!

Light Therapy Can:

  • promote collagen production
  • reduce redness and inflammation
  • help with circumferential reduction
  • treat acne and improve the appearance of vascular lesions/hyperpigmentation

What is Light Therapy?

During a light therapy treatment, your body is exposed to a certain wavelength of light for several minutes. Light-emitting diode (LED) light therapy rays are capable of passing through deep tissue. LED light therapy works by sending light through layers of the skin to decrease inflammation and encourage internal processes like collagen production.

The surface of the skin responds differently to different colors in the spectrum. It reflects some and absorbs others. Additionally, these different colors and wavelengths interact in different ways with the chromophores in your body. (Hemoglobin and melanin are some examples of chromophores.) By utilizing different wavelengths, we can target specific cellular processes that lead to incredible, therapeutic results.

When your skin is exposed to the right wavelength of light, the mitochondria (the “power generators” inside of your cells) absorb the light and generate more energy. Anti-inflammatory responses are triggered and any excess cellular energy is stored for later, meaning your cells will be easily able to repair and rebuild themselves if they ever need to.

Light Therapy FAQs

Everyone’s skin is different. Luckily, different light color wavelengths interact with different chromophores and pigmentation. With the right wavelength, anyone can benefit from light therapy treatment. If you’re struggling with acne and discoloration, or simply in search of a way to plump and rejuvenate your skin, we have the solution. To schedule your light therapy consultation, call us at (480) 444-6829.

For best results, we recommend bi-weekly light therapy treatments around 30 minutes in length. Remember, you can add light therapy on to another Sea of Beauty Med Spa service for an added boost!

Unlike other aesthetic laser treatments, light therapy is painless. Plus, since there are no UV rays or ionizing radiation, there is no risk of burning and no side effects from light therapy. At your appointment, simply put on the provided protective eyewear and get ready to recline and relax under a specialized panel of lights.

From acne to stretch marks, light therapy has proven effective for a variety of treatments on the face and body.

Our Three Distinct Light Therapy Wavelengths:

Red Light Therapy

(633 nm wavelength)

Red light therapy is great for reducing inflammation and correcting pigmentation. Less inflammation means less pain, better cardiovascular health, and better overall performance! Red light therapy can also:

  • fade stretch marks
  • treat rosacea and other redness
  • improve blood circulation
  • increase collagen production
  • encourage cellular regeneration

Red light encourages cells to create more ATP (cellular energy). It stimulates the fibroblasts that produce collagen and increases DNA and RNA activity. Because red wavelengths of light energy are much longer than that of other colors, it is more effective in penetrating deep and reaching dermal chromophores, the molecules that absorb light energy. This allows for precision-targeted treatment of hyperpigmentation. When red light therapy is added on to another one of our treatments, it can help reduce redness and postinflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH).

Green Light Therapy

(532 nm wavelength)

Green light therapy provides a calming effect. It can be used to fade pigmentation and dark spots as well as for circumferential reduction and skin tightening of the flank, hips, waist, and thighs, giving you a slimmer appearance. It can also help tighten under-eye skin to reduce eye bags. New research from the University of Arizona Health Sciences has also revealed green light therapy can help with chronic migraine relief!

Blue Light Therapy

(415 nm wavelength)

Blue light therapy is used to treat active acne outbreaks by targeting oil glands and killing bacteria. After blue light therapy, patients with acne have clearer pores, reduced inflammation, and rejuvenated skin. Blue light therapy can be added on to many of our other facial treatments.
